A large percentage of Priestley Lightning Rod Systems are provided for the building owner
through a general contractor or builder. Rods are often requested by the owner, suggested
by the builder, or specified by the architect. Priestley goes to great lengths to keep pace with
tight schedules and coordinate with other trades. This synergy keeps costs down and provides
for unobtrusive and effective installations. Of course, the sooner we are brought into the project,
the easier the process becomes.
For examples: With a foundation in a blasted hole, grounding is easiest before backfilling. With masonry chimneys,
cables can be concealed by the mason in the upper
sections, while other main conductors are hidden within wall and roof framing or stressed-skin panels.
For existing structures and remodeling projects, cables can be hidden in attics or camouflaged with
tin or lead coating. Flat copper strap conductors can be hidden under existing shingles, and decorative
or custom rods can be provided. Specialized equipment and techniques allow careful installation on slate
and standing seam roofs.
Priestley is licensed in several states, listed by Underwriters Laboratories (UL), and all systems are certified
with a UL Master Label. For more information, please browse other pages on this site or
